How to use the platform

Find tips and instructions below on how to master navigation around the virtual platform.

On this page you will find some instructions on how to navigate the WFPICCS 2020 Virtual Congress Platform.

Note: Session times are given in US Central Standard Time (CST). Here’s a useful tool to compare session times with your local time zone.

Enter the virtual congress platform

  • Go to the virtual congress login page (we highly recommend using Google Chrome).
  • Type in the login credentials you received via email (you must have a valid registration, to get access to the platform)
  • Please check you have not used extra spaces in the username field
  • Click on “Sign in”
  • If you’re having trouble logging in, please contact us at

After successfully logging in, you will arrive at the ‘home screen’ or the outside of our congress venue.

  • There is a chat icon, marked in red, which when clicked will connect you to our tech support. Real people will answer any question you may have in real-time, making sure you have the best virtual experience.
  • Clicking anywhere else on the home screen will take you to the congress lobby.


When at the lobby, you will see different text and display screens. Clicking on them will take you to further information and features.

  • All areas marked in red are clickable items that will open new screens with information for you.
  • Additional information and other conference features will be accessible via the top menu bar, located at the top part of the screen.

From the congress lobby, you can:

Buttons that provide quick access to features on the virtual platform:

  • Lobby
  • Live Sessions
  • Networking Lounge

Buttons that provide more information regarding the congress:

  • Acknowledgements – connect to sponsor websites.
  • eBook – a PDF format can be downloaded.
  • Congress program – s PDF format can be downloaded.

The “Links” tab opens two features:

  • Messages – Collecting all your personal correspondence during the congress.
  • Briefcase – Containing all documents that you have chosen to save during the congress.


  • User profile – contains your personal information, but when clicking on it you can find all your sessions/e-posters “bookmarks”. You can also remove bookmarked items from there.

Please keep in mind that every time you bookmark a new item, you need to refresh the page, so it can register and appear under your profile in bookmarks.

By clicking on the “Live Sessions” display screen or the top menu bar, you will be led to the auditorium.

Once in the auditorium click on the “click here to join” screen to see all live sessions.

You will be able to find all live sessions listed as per their type – Industry, Workshops etc.

Browse the different session types to locate your preferred session. You can also search for a specific session in the search bar on the top left.

When a session is live you will be able to click “Play” to watch it.

If a session is not currently live you can join later as per the time indicated on the time counter and also add a reminder for it to your email calendar (information and calendar button are located on the right side of the session).

When you join the live session, you need to click on the button in the center of the presentation – “Click for audio” in order to hear the presentation

By clicking on the “Industry Sessions” display screen, you will be led to the live sessions auditorium. From there you just need to repeat the steps provided in the live sessions section above, as they are a standard navigation process, that applies to all types of live sessions.

To watch sessions on-demand: click on the “On-Demand Sessions” screen in the lobby.

You will have a screen with the full congress program, arranged by:

  1. date
  2. time
  3. type (see “Legend”)

There are several ways to find the session you want to watch.

  1. Use the “search bar” on the top that will allow you to look for a specific session
  2. You have the “sessions”, “faculty” and “authors” tabs to make your search easier and more advanced.
  3. Find the session from the congress program and click on its title to open it.

Please note that all live sessions appearing here will be available to watch on-demand only after the original live session time. Sessions that are marked as already “on-demand” will be available immediately from the first congress day. 

Once in your chosen session, you can watch the recorded video by clicking on Webcast (1).

When the session recording opens you can:

  • Play or pause the video (2);
  • Increase/decrease volume or mute the sound (3);
  • Switch to watching the video on full screen (4). 

When in a session you can also:

  1. Click on “Abstract” to get more topic information.
  2. “Bookmark” sessions that you want to save and revisit. Saved sessions can be found under your profile, in the bookmark tab;
  3. “Print” a PDF version of the session;
  4. Send a message to the session author via “Email”. You must leave your email address if you expect a reply.

Note that you need to refresh the page every time you have a new bookmark, so it can register under your profile.

Session Type Specifications:

  • “Parallel Sessions” have Q&A in chatrooms, which can be found in the “Networking Lounge”. In the description of those sessions, there is a specified time, location and link to get you to the chatrooms.



  • “Workshops” require preregistration and are only available to participants who prepaid tickets for the specific workshops.

“Parallel Sessions” are a type of On-Demand Sessions (see details how to watch them in the above section)

They have their Q&A in chatrooms, which can be found in the “Networking Lounge”. In the description of those sessions, there is a specified time, location and link to get you to the chatrooms.

Please join the Q&A in the respective chatroom, during the time indicated for it in the scientific program.

There may be a live video discussion happening in the Q&A channel/chat-room you want to attend.

Click on “Join Meeting” to join the video call – listen in and ask your questions.

Click on the E-Poster Areasign in the lobby.

Browse through the list of E-Posters or use the search function to find the one you want to see. Click on the E-Poster title, to open it.

Once in your chosen E-poster, you can:

  1. Zoom in and out to comfortably read all the details.
  2. Go to the next slide/previous slide by clicking the navigation button.
  3. Click on “Abstract” for the aim, methodology and results of the research.

Use the “Email” icon to leave a comment or ask our abstract authors a question. This can be done anonymously, but if your email requires a reply, you must fill in your email details.

Use the ‘bookmark’ icon (1) to save an E-Poster that you want to revisit. Bookmarked items are saved under your profile in a “bookmarks” tab (2).

Note that you need to refresh the page every time you have a new bookmark, so it can register under your profile.

Click on “Exhibition” in the congress lobby.

From the exhibition, you can visit any of the booths available. All you need to do is just click on the name/logo of the exhibitor you would like to look at.

Note that from the exhibition, you can also access the Networking Sessions that will transfer you to the Networking Lounge. Detailed information on how to navigate it is provided in the “Networking Lounge” section.


Once you have accessed one of the booths you will be able to:

  • Badge Swipe (1) – Once you click on it, it automatically submits your contact details to the exhibitor.
  • Use the quick navigation buttons (2),(3), to go back to the main exhibition area or switch between booths.
  • Explore the features panel (4) on the left side of the screen.

Booth Features Pannel:

  • Learn more about the company (1).
  • Check out useful documents (2). You can select documents to add to your briefcase, by choosing them and then clicking the “briefcase” icon (3). Your virtual briefcase can be found under “Links” (4) on the top menu bar.
  • See informational links (5).
  • See who is currently online and start a chat with exhibitors (6).
  • Note that Exhibitors will have an (E) next to their name in the chat and Prescribers a (P).

Click on the List of participants sign in the lobby.

Click on the country flag on the map, or on the flag and name in the list at the bottom, to view the list of participants from this particular country. 

Alternatively, you can search for specific participants, in the top search bar, by entering their name or initials.

A list of all the participants from this country will pop up. 

Enter the Networking Lounge from the lobby or the top navigation bar.

Connect, discuss and collaborate with the paediatric community online.

  • Enter the Chat rooms (1) for live Q&As or private discussions.
  • Explore Mexico and join WFPICCS on social media (2).
  • Follow the official hashtag on Twitter – #WFPICCS20 (3).
  • Click on “Networking Sessions” (4) for a shortcut to the Live Sessions auditorium.

Chat room Specifications:

Public Channels

  • All Chat room Q&A sessions and Networking sessions have a specific date, time and channel listed in their description.
  • By clicking on “More”, you will see the full list of public channels available for you to join
  • Find the public channel of the session you want to join and choose it from the list on the left (numerically ordered).
  • Type in your question or comment in the group chat, for everyone to see.

Private Channels

Create a private discussion on a specific topic and invite specific people.

  • Click the “+” to create a new channel, name it and click “create channel”.
  • A private channel can be joined only with an invitation. When you have one, the name of the channel will appear under “private channels”.

Direct Messages

  • Find participants who are currently online by clicking on “More” under the “Direct Messages” tab.
  • Message them directly, by clicking on the “+”, choosing a name from the list and then pressing “Go”.
  • In the direct message chat screen, you can write to the person, attach files, emojis etc.
  • You also have the option to “Call” and “Video Call” as well by clicking the “Video Recorder” button on the top right.
  • Next, you have different options to pin and save information from the conversation.
